Welcome to the Moose & Rye Blog! We are the Reid family!
I’m Katie, a stay at home mom who just launched an interior design business. My husband, Kelsey, is a fire fighter and what I like to call, all time “DIY-er”. He’s the man behind the scenes making all my visions come to life! Our son Riley just turned two and loves helping us around the house and homestead with anything we allow him to get his hands on. We have a dog named Moose who is a German Shorthaired Pointer and Kelsey’s hunting buddy. We also have two sheep, Bo and Luke. Most exciting of all (if you haven’t noticed from the pictures yet haha) we are expecting a little girl in December, Christmas eve to be exact!
In September of 2020, we bought our current house and have been working our butts off turning it into our dream home. The land, the house, it all needed and still needs so much love! It’s funny, when we look back now our family and friends must have thought we were out of our minds with the amount of work that was ahead of us, but we just had this vision for the house and property that we couldn’t escape. The small ranch style home, the shed in the back, the pond, the oak trees throughout the property. Let’s just say it was a very easy “yes” for us!
Over the last year, we have completely renovated this home and the property. It’s crazy to think about how much we have overcome, yet how far we have to go. Renovating this home lit a fire in me. I became so passionate about the project. Staying up late mocking up mood boards and ideas on paper and even tons of paper towels at one point! (Hey, we were living in a construction zone and my materials were very limited, okay!)
Friends and family can attest to my brain and how it works. When I have a vision or an idea there is no telling me “no”.
Of course, we have Kelsey, my sweet, loving husband who always reminds me of those dollar signs, time and time again. With that beautiful combination of an ambitious, creative, doesn’t-take-no-for-an-answer gal and a supportive yet budget conscious husband, you have the ultimate DIY family! This project has become our creative outlet and that’s exactly what brought us to this blog today. Although we might be a year late, we want to bring you all on this journey with us. The before, the in between, and the after. We have so many projects that have been completed and so many more to be done. We can’t wait to share them all with you.
Here, on the Moose and Rye Blog, we plan to share our family, our home, DIY projects, do’s and don'ts we learn along the way, all of our wild ideas and how exactly we bring those visions to life! We can’t wait to bring you along on this journey.
